Moved the pigs to a bigger pasture and a new shelter we have named Pig Palace! ⁣

With the mobile fencing we will be able to rotate them around their Palace and get them on fresh grass, in large areas where they can be happy doing pig things. ⁣

Finally planting strawberries! May was cold and wet, June I was married to my shovel building our front half acre into rows. 800 strawberry plants will fill 1/4 acre. The other 1/4 acre will be prepped to divide the plants next year. ⁣
⁣
The wonderful thing about strawberries is that they are perennial, so they come back every year, and that they thrive on being divided and replanted. We will grow our fields quickly for pick your own berries! The work I’m doing now will set us up for the future. My motivation to keep digging is my vision of families and kids enjoying our fields and the experience of picking berries on our beautiful land ❤️⁣

We are in year one, lots of infrastructure, digging, and planting our first field of strawberries. Right now at the farmers market we are selling waffles, iced coffee, and exclusive merch like stickers, magnets and greeting cards designed by me. Can’t wait to expand into selling produce and farm goods, but happy to just be there meeting my community! ⁣

Almost time to plant garlic! Since we are just starting our farm I had to source garlic seed. This 50lb batch of elephant garlic should cover about 1/16 an acre and yield us 500lbs next fall when we harvest. Will be saving seed next year and each year after to grow our garlic fields. Grateful for the fresh start, can’t wait to plow and plant these babies! ⁣
